Kathleen Bailey

Kathleen started her career in the profession as a legal secretary at a prominent Cape Town firm and studied through UNISA whilst working.

She obtained her BProc degree in April 1999 and completed her articles in 2001. She stayed on as a Professional Assistant at the firm, running their collections department.

Kathleen left the firm in August 2007 when she started her own practice under the name of Bailey and Associates and in May 2009 she purchased another existing practice from attorneys who no longer wished to practice law.

Her practice further evolved when she went into partnership with Jacques during March 2013 when the current firm was established.

She now leads the collections department of Bailey Haynes Inc, servicing various large clients, including servicing some of South Africa’s largest lending, insurance and investments companies.

She also heads the Conveyancing department where she attends to registration and transfer of properties.

Jacques Haynes

Jacques heads up the litigation department with extensive experience in commercial litigation, liquidations, drafting of commercial agreements and family law to name a few.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce (BComm) and Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of Stellenbosch before completing his articles of clerkship at a well-established firm in Bellville in 2010.

Jacques was admitted as an attorney in 2011 and thereafter also obtained his right of appearance in the High Court.

Jacques’s clients include various medium and large businesses, listed companies and the major South African banks.
